“No disrespect to Norwich City” – Swindon Town star urged to avoid Canaries transfer

“No disrespect to Norwich City” – Swindon Town star urged to avoid Canaries transfer

According to a report by The Moonraker, the Championship team has submitted a six-figure offer.

After making 14 League Two appearances this season and breaking into the Robins’ first squad, the 18-year-old attracted notice.

We asked Ciaran, our Swindon fan pundit, if he thinks Norwich would be a wise move or if his team can cling onto the youthful talent.

“I think Norwich wouldn’t be the worst move, but I don’t think it’s the best move for him,” Ciaran told Football League World.

“Obviously, Norwich have produced a few players out there in their own academy, or players have come into the academy; they have progressed to the first team.

“So, if you’re good enough—and I firmly believe he is—you have that option there. However, I believe he would be better off gaining experience.

He would presumably join Norwich’s under-23 squad before being sent out on loan, where he currently has the chance to play a lot of first-team football—experience that I believe is more useful for a young player.

He is really skilled technically. All he needs to do is improve his League Two skills, and playing for a League Two team is the only way to truly achieve that.

Given Ian Holloway’s connections and the teams already keeping an eye on him, I believe that if Norwich are interested in him this season despite the fact that he has only played a few games and started a couple, with the majority of his involvement coming off the bench, and a Championship club is already interested in you, “If you can get off to a great start, have a great year next year and you will be playing more games, think of the clubs that could come in for you after that.” Your options may include elite Premier League teams.

In my opinion, he should wait, remain at Swindon for a year or even two, and hone his skills as a consistent first team player because I believe that will help him in the future.

However, football players’ careers are extremely brief; you have seen it happen before, when players have declined a move to a Championship team or when a move hasn’t gone as planned, and that was their only chance.

“But I think he has a very, very bright future in the game. This isn’t going to be his only opportunity.

There are going to be big, big opportunities for him in the future.” With all due respect to Norwich City, I believe that in a year we could be discussing moving to a Man City, Manchester United, Brighton, or Bournemouth—established Premier League clubs.

I believe that’s probably where he’s best served. At Norwich, I think he’ll just go and work on under-23 development.

It didn’t work out as well for him, and I believe he would have been better off staying in League Two and could have improved as a player and played higher up for longer.

“A few years ago, we had a player, Will Randall, who left us at Swindon to go to Wolverhampton just to basically do under-23 development there, and he ended up back up playing in League Two and, before long, the National League.”

“I think he should hold out for a year, give Ian Holloway everything, and I believe he’ll even just get you the move and a good move for the player and the club itself.”
