Norwich City: Canaries talks on Wright and Dobbin returns.

Norwich City have confirmed that they are in talks with Manchester City to sign Jacob Wright on a permanent deal, as well as another loan for Aston Villa’s Lewis Dobbin.

Norwich City have confirmed that they are in talks with Manchester City to sign Jacob Wright on a permanent deal, as well as another loan for Aston Villa’s Lewis Dobbin.

On Tuesday lunchtime, the Canaries announced their released and retained lists following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Championship season.

Last week, Sporting Director Ben Knapper stated at Colney that he was confident in securing a permanent contract for Manchester City youngster Wright.

Norwich are believed to have first refusal on Dobbin’s loan return after he suffered a season-ending injury over Easter.

City also confirmed that Jon Rowe’s permanent transfer to Marseilles will be completed this summer, in accordance with the terms of his original season-long loan deal.

Norwich announced on their official website that first-team players Angus Gunn, Jacob Sørensen, and Onel Hernández will leave the club at the end of their contracts this summer.

‘Archie Mair and Jonathan Tomkinson will also leave the club when their contracts expire, while Callum Doyle will return to Manchester City after a season-long loan spell at Carrow Road.

‘Discussions between Aston Villa and Lewis Dobbin about extending his loan deal are still ongoing.

‘Discussions are also taking place between Manchester City and Jacob Wright about triggering an option to make the midfielder’s move to Carrow Road permanent.

‘Caleb Ansen and Ken Aboh return from loan spells, while Brad Hills and Emmanuel Adegboyega stay with their loan clubs until the end of their respective seasons. Adegboyega’s contract also includes a one-year extension option, which the club has exercised.

Following the obligation to buy outlined in the two clubs’ agreement, Jonathan Rowe’s loan to Marseille will become permanent.

Academy players Lewis Shipley, Tom Finch, Adian Manning, Ellis Craven, Daniel Ogwuru, Alfie Doy, Alex Roberts, Kingston Simbai, and Gabriel Keita will also depart from the club.

Henry Bullen, Hugo Valencia Gomez, and Lloyd Ofori-Manteaw will all sign professional contracts with the club on July 1, while Harmony Okwumo will sign a contract extension.

‘The club would like to thank all departing players for their contributions and wish them well in the future.’

Adegboyega, a centre back, has made 34 appearances for the Tangerines, who are chasing European qualification following an impressive Scottish Premiership campaign under Jim Goodwin.

The 21-year-old Republic of Ireland U21 international has yet to make a senior club appearance for the Canaries, but he was part of their pre-season plans a year ago under previous head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup.

Adegboyega’s loan club will face Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday, three points behind fourth-placed Aberdeen.

The youngster’s long-term future at Carrow Road is expected to be linked to the ongoing head coach search.

Adegboyega, Ruairi McConville, and Brad Hills are all signed, as are Jose Cordoba and Shane Duffy, but the Irishman is rumoured to be leaving for the United States this summer.
