The Canaries hope to sign the 27-year-old during the summer transfer window, which opened for early registration yesterday. They are confident of signing two stoppers quickly.

City are still looking for a replacement for outgoing keeper Angus Gunn as they prepare for a busy summer.

According to Sky Sports, Grimshaw has agreed to a fee of £600,000 with the Pilgrims. A medical could take place as soon as this week if personal terms are met.

Grimshaw previously played for Belgian side Lommel, which was managed by Bristol City manager Liam Manning, who is expected to be confirmed as Norwich’s new head coach soon.

They are aware of the names Sam Tickle and Daniel Bachmann, though discussions about the two have recently ceased. Vladan Kovacevic, a Sporting Lisbon player who spent the second half of last season on loan at Legia Warsaw, is thought to be of interest.

In-demand Free Agent Knapper is familiar with Tyrhys Nolan, Tochi Chukwuani, and Pelle Mattsson, all of whom are Danish central midfielders.

Jacob Wright became the club’s first signing of the window when they completed a £2.3 million permanent deal for the former Manchester City loanee, with Grimshaw now expected to follow him through arrivals at Colney.

He played 21 second-tier games for relegated Argyle last season, keeping one clean sheet and conceding 49 goals. He spent four years at Blackpool before joining them last summer, having progressed through Manchester City’s youth system while Manning worked for City Football Group.

In 2023, Grimshaw expressed gratitude to the 39-year-old for providing him with a chance in Belgium.

“There were times when it was difficult because it was my first time moving away, but he was very understanding. We got along well; he’s a great manager.

“It was my first proper experience in a first-team environment, so I had to deal with the challenges of not playing right away and having difficult conversations with Liam.”

Norwich are considering a permanent exit for George Long after he fell behind the inexperienced Vicente Reyes in the pecking order between the Carrow Road sticks, while Reyes could leave on loan for the 2025-26 season.
