Norwich City urged against Nottingham Forest transfer agreement
The Canaries have reportedly inquired about the 19-year-old’s availability amid a contract dispute with the Reds, making them one of three Championship teams interested in him, according to Teamtalk.
They are up against rivals Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, as well as Westerlo of Belgium.
After joining their academy from Manchester United in 2023, the versatile youth player has made nine appearances in the Premier League 2 this season but has yet to make his senior debut for the Premier League team. He can play out width as well as through the middle as a no. 10.
Zeke Downes, a Norwich fan commentator for FLW, stated his doubts about the agreement when asked about the possibility of signing Berry.
He believes the club have enough youthful attacking quality for the time being, and that more experience would be needed, particularly if Berry is considered as a replacement for Borja Sainz.
“I personally haven’t heard of Adam Berry,” Downes told Football League World.
However, it doesn’t necessarily follow that he isn’t good enough because he is a decent age, the club is good, and he won’t be given much of a chance there now due to [Anthony] Elanga, [Callum] Hudson-Odoi, and [Morgan] Gibbs-White.

However, we have already hired people in those areas, like [Amankwah] Forson, [Matej] Jurasek, [Ante] Crnac, and [Oscar] Schwartau.
We could need another young guy like that, but I’m not sure.
“I would prefer to bring in a player with some experience who has had a fair amount of time already; they will likely take Sainz’s place directly.”
Lewis Dobbin is probably being considered, but given his injuries, I’m not sure whether it will happen right now.
“Instead of waiting a year or more for the other guys to hopefully work out, but you never really know if they will, I would much rather have a player who is about 24 to 28 and ready to kick-on right now.”
Norwich’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland at home on Tuesday night has them in 11th place in the Championship standings.
Since Norwich has already made investments in younger attackers, they might not need Berry as a backup option at this time.
Berry is versatile and has the potential to be a strong player in the future, but Norwich will need someone who can make a greater immediate impact next season if the Spaniard leaves.
If a reasonable fee can be agreed upon with Forest, then it might still be worth pursuing, as it will spread the club’s bets on these young players and give them a greater chance at success.
However, it would be an underwhelming move if he is the only player signed to replace Sainz, should he depart in the summer.
