‘Not satisfied’: Norwich City boss rues one specific aspect of his side’s defeat to Burnley.

Goals from Hannibal and Jaidon Anthony gave Scott Parker’s team a 2-1 victory after a strong first forty-five minutes.

Jack Stacey cut the lead in half late in the first half, and the Canaries set up a frantic last few moments. The second half was much more evenly matched.

Following the incident, Norwich manager Thorup had conflicted emotions, saying: “I’m happy with some bits, not satisfied with some others.”

We intended to make the opening half of the game slower and more compact since we anticipated that load management would prevent some of our regular players from starting.

“The first goal we let up did not satisfy me; our backline is completely unprepared to handle the pass in behind.

“The second goal is the result of nothing at all. We got a free kick, but we waste it and immediately give the pass, which obviously alters the outcome of the game.

“I’m pleased with the second-half performance and glad we were able to exert some pressure on them, particularly in the closing minutes.

“But we still managed to put a Burnley side that are fighting for promotion under pressure, in big parts of the second-half.

Whereas I can’t remember one chance they had in the second-half, so that’s the big positive.” That was the change in strategy, but they’re on the ball more than we’re used to. We do, however, reveal a few objectives that we must avoid.
