On the “possibility” of signings in Indonesia, the Oxford United manager

Oxford United may be able to add a player or two while in Indonesia, according to Gary Rowett.

Brian De Keersmaecker, a 25-year-old Belgian midfielder, joined the U’s during the summer transfer window from Heracles Almelo of the Eredivisie.

United defeated a Liga Indonesia All-Star squad 6-3 on Sunday to begin their preseason trip of Indonesia. On Thursday, they will play Arema FC.

U’s head coach Rowett said, “There’s a possibility,” in response to a question concerning possible incomings while on tour. Arriving for two weeks raises the question of whether there will be enough time to get a player so he can participate in some of the games if you do sign him while we’re out here.

It makes things a little bit more difficult logistically. We’re willing to consider it if players show up for whatever reason.

Trialists are less so. In fact, we have a good number of bodies and a good number of numbers. A couple have had to be left behind. [Siriki] Dembele’s recuperation from his injuries is still ongoing. We were hoping to include [Stephan] Negru and [James] Golding, who have both experienced slight setbacks, but that isn’t the case.

“The plan is definitely to try and get them out for the best part of it if people advance faster and we sign players.”
