After weeks of waiting, Australian winger Marco Tilio finally sealed a move to Rapid Vienna, essentially ending his tenure at Celtic.
The move was announced on Tuesday by the Austrian website Kurier.at, which confirmed that Celtic had eventually approved the sale after first hesitating because of a lack of wide options. The deal is a loan with a buyout clause if Tilio makes a certain amount of appearances in Vienna.
The 23-year-old arrived at Celtic from Melbourne City two summers ago with promise, but his impact was minimal. Injuries disrupted his first few months in Glasgow and even when fit, he struggled to force his way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans. He was loaned back to Melbourne eventually but now is set for a new adventure.
