‘Our hearts have a hole that will never heal’: Family speak of heartbreak after ‘most perfect, precious’ boy, 14, dies in M6 crash

The devastated family of a 14-year-old boy who tragically died in a crash on the M6 have spoken of their unbearable grief, describing him as the “most perfect, precious” son whose loss has left a permanent hole in their hearts.

Ryan Liam Morgan, from Cheshire, was killed in a collision on the M6 motorway earlier this week. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a serious crash involving multiple vehicles. Despite their best efforts, Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The teenager had been travelling with family when the tragic incident occurred. It is understood that no one else suffered life-threatening injuries, but the emotional trauma remains immeasurable.

In a heartfelt tribute, Ryan’s family said: “Our beautiful boy, our shining light, Ryan, was taken from us far too soon. He was only 14 years old, full of life, laughter and dreams. He had so much ahead of him, so much to live for, and now all of that has been stolen from him—and from us.”

They continued: “Ryan was the most perfect, precious son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend anyone could ask for. His smile lit up the room. His kindness, his heart, and his sense of humour touched everyone who met him. There are simply no words to describe how much we love him, and how much it hurts to lose him.”

The statement added: “Our hearts have a hole that will never heal. We are broken beyond words. No parent should ever have to bury their child. Ryan, we love you more than life itself and we will carry you with us forever.”

Ryan’s school also released a tribute, describing him as “a bright, enthusiastic and caring young man who made a lasting impact on both staff and students.” A book of condolence has been opened at the school, and grief counsellors have been made available to help classmates and staff process the loss.

A growing memorial has formed near the family’s home, with flowers, candles and handwritten notes left by friends, neighbours and local community members. Messages described Ryan as “a ray of sunshine” and “the friend everyone wanted.”

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash and have appealed for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with Ryan’s family at this incredibly difficult time. We are working to establish the full circumstances and are urging anyone who may have seen anything, or who has relevant footage, to contact us.”

The family have requested privacy as they try to come to terms with the loss of their beloved boy. They have expressed gratitude for the support from the community, but said nothing can fill the void left by Ryan’s death.

“He was everything to us,” they said. “And now we have to live in a world without him.”
