Three men were arrested for a suspected stabbing in Oxford city centre.

On Sunday, April 14, around 5.40pm, police responded to reports of a 20-year-old man being stabbed near Isis Lock near Oxford Railway Station.

The man received first aid at the scene and was transported to the hospital with a serious but not life-threatening arm injury.

A 28-year-old was arrested at the time on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, and he is still in police custody.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed that three men have been arrested in connection with the assault.

A 28-year-old, a 24-year-old, and a 22-year-old were all arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and are currently on police bail.

The force also confirmed that the victim has been released from the hospital.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “Three men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.”

“The men, aged 24, 28, and 22, are all still on police bail.

“The victim is no longer hospitalised. Our investigation is ongoing.

A cordon was set up on the night of the attack and remained in place throughout Monday, with officers guarding taped-off areas near the bridge.

The Oxford Mail launched an anti-knife campaign in April following a series of incidents in the city and surrounding areas.

While there is no easy solution, we know we have the support of Thames Valley Police, the Thames Valley Violence Prevention Partnership, and local politicians who are all committed to making the streets safer for everyone.

We can make a difference by speaking with young people, investigating the dangers of social media, educating people through schools and outreach groups, and promoting initiatives such as amnesties to remove weapons from the streets.

It comes amid shocking scenes in Southport, where three children were killed on Monday.

Merseyside Police identified the three children killed in the attack as Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine. The force reported that five children and two adults are still in critical condition.
