Paul Mitchell suggests one reason why he has decided to leave Newcastle United

Paul Mitchell is leaving his role as Newcastle United sporting director.

It has been announced that Paul Mitchell is leaving St. James’ Park less than a year after he moved there.

He replaced Dan Ashworth, who was heading to Manchester United, when he joined Newcastle United in July 2024.

Eddie Howe was only informed of Mitchell’s appointment twenty-four hours prior to its announcement, which caused a stir on Tyneside.

The former Monaco director supervised a difficult summer transfer season, with conflict behind the scenes producing a significant amount of uncertainty.

Following the early teething issues, Mitchell was unable to sign Marc Guehi.

Because PSR limited his capacity to exercise his recruitment power, he was unable to sign anyone in January either.
