Wexham owes a great deal to Paul Mullin, but as his goals have propelled the team up the Football League, he has been left behind and has been sent on loan to Wigan Athletic for the 2025–2026 season.
There is a good chance that Mullin will return to the club and play again, but there is also a strong feeling that this is the end.
Mullin wanted to go on loan this summer, according to Phil Parkinson, and Wigan was a good choice because of their location and their need for new strikers for the upcoming campaign. Additionally, it ends what has been somewhat of a palaver and a story for Mullin at Wrexham in 2025.
After January, he only made one appearance for the Dragons. For the most part, he was unable to draw close to the matchday squad.
The 30-year-old has two more years left on his deal. He’ll be back at the Racecourse next summer, where he and Parkinson will assess the situation. However, he seems to have played his final game for the team.

The texts that Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds sent to Paul Mullin reveal a lot about his future at Wrexham. Following the announcement of Mullin’s transfer to Wigan, supporters, players, and everyone else have been thanking Mullin on social media for everything he has done for the team.
He seems to have left the team permanently. However, they are not alone. The owners have taken similar actions. Following the relocation, Ryan Reynolds made a social media post.
“I can’t imagine seeing Mulls on loan and in another kit,” Reynolds wrote in his communication to Mullin. Without his heart, talent, and work ethic, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Paul Mullin, you are loved.
Additionally, Rob McElhenney posted. Following Mullin’s departure from Wrexham, McElhenney remarked: “Paul Mullin has made history on and off the pitch in four years.” I owe Paul a huge debt of gratitude for what he has done for this group. There’s just too much to say, but I’ll stop here. Super Paul Mullin is a singular entity.
