
Pensioner killed in A96 crash named as family pay tribute to ‘devoted and much-loved’ grandad
Keith Looseley, 78, a former RAF pilot, died on the A96 near Huntly after being involved in a car-truck crash. His family has now described him as a “active and valued member of the local community”.
Keith Looseley, a pensioner, was killed in a horrific crash on a major road in Aberdeenshire.
On April 23, around 11 a.m., a black Skoda Kamiq and a white Iveco truck collided on the A96 Aberdeen to Elgin road near Huntly.
The driver of the Skoda was tragically killed at the scene, despite emergency services arriving quickly.
He has now been identified as Keith Looseley, 78, a former RAF pilot from Aberdeenshire.
His family has described him as a “devoted and much-loved father, grandfather, brother, and son”.

They stated: “Keith was a former RAF pilot who had lived in Gartly for over 25 years. He was an active and valued member of the local community, volunteering with Gordon Rural Action and the Morayvia Aviation Museum. Keith was a devoted and much-loved father, grandfather, brother, and son, and his passing is deeply felt by everyone who knew him.
“We would like to thank the members of the public who provided assistance in the immediate aftermath of the collision and the police officers and paramedics for all of their efforts at the scene.”
Sergeant Pete Henderson of Police Scotland said, “Our thoughts are with Keith’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing and we would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dash-cam footage from the area, to please get in touch.”
The road was closed for approximately seven and a half hours to allow for a thorough investigation of the collision.
