Pezzolano On Boreham Wood: “We Go Step By Step”.

Paulo Pezzolano will make his debut in the Hornets’ dugout this evening as Watford travel to Boreham Wood for their first friendly of the 2025/26 season.
The Uruguayan Head Coach has already spent just over a fortnight with his new players, trying to shape his ideas ahead of the Sky Bet Championship season.
“It’s our first match,” Pezzolano told watfordfc.com before the trip to Meadow Park. “We’ve only been exercising together for two weeks, so we’re taking it gradually.
“The most important thing is to start seeing small details in how we work as a team.” Pezzolano claimed he has been impressed with his group so far following a hard fortnight of training. “I’m happy with the work we are doing,” he told me. “It’s challenging and demanding because we want to make the most of each day.
“We are forming a team, and that process is critical. “If we are a team, we can achieve very important things.” The match against the National League side will be Pezzolano and his staff’s first chance to greet Watford fans.
“It will be very nice,” he remarked. “We are really looking forward to feeling their support and sharing our excitement for the new season.” The two sides previously clashed in another pre-season friendly a year ago, with the Hornets winning 1-0 thanks to Jack Grieves’ goal.
The Wood have returned to the National League for the next season, having been promoted from the National League South via the play-offs in May.
They defeated Maidstone United 1-0 in the final at Meadow Park, in front of a crowd of 3,500. After a one-season absence, Luke Garrard’s side returned to the top tier of the non-league ladder.
Tomorrow’s game will be the first opportunity to witness the Hornets in their new home kit, which can be purchased at the club store or online.
Fans may purchase tickets for the game HERE, or on the night at the Boreham Wood ticket office, which will open at 5 p.m. Please be aware that this game will not be separated.
