Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson appears to be already hard at work ahead of the summer transfer window, which opens in June.
Phil Parkinson will be hard at work this summer, following Wrexham’s promotion to the Championship after finishing second in the 2024/25 League One season.
Wrexham already has a growing list of names connected with summer moves to the Racecourse, including some attacking players like Callum Robinson and Ryan Hardie.
Cardiff City has been relegated from the Championship, along with Plymouth. Robinson appears to be leaving Cardiff City, while Hardie may be leaving Plymouth, implying that

Wrexham intends to attack the demoted Championship clubs.
It also hints at Wrexham’s plans to strengthen their front line. However, in the recent week, three defensive names have been associated with the club.
Wrexham’s defenders Jonny Evans, Harry Darling, and Maksym
Talovierov Parkinson appears to be looking to bolster the centre-back position this summer. Understandably so, given that he’s been playing alongside three of them on the pitch, as well as the fact that Eoghan O’Connell’s contract at Wrexham expires this summer. However, it may be safe to conclude that he has continued.
Conveniently, Wrexham has been linked with a number of centre-backs. One of them is Jonny Evans, a Manchester United and Ireland great and 2008 Champions League winner.
It’s said that Wrexham want to recruit Evans on a free transfer this summer, with the 37-year-old leaving Old Trafford for a second time. Wrexham have been connected with Swansea City’s Harry Darling.
Darling, like Evans, will have his contract expire this summer, and the Dragons might upset their Welsh rivals by poaching their £1 million signing from MK Dons for free in 2022.
The last name mentioned is Maksym Talovierov. Talovierov, like Hardie, has been relegated with Plymouth this season. And, like Hardie, he could be granted a Championship lifeline by Wrexham, who are interested in signing Talovierov this summer.

The ideal option for Wrexham is obvious.
Any of these three players signing this summer would be a plus for Parkinson. However, Darling appears to be the finest of the three options.
Evans is, of course, the most experienced and decorated of the three. He, like so many others who have signed for Wrexham in the twilight of their careers, could surely perform a job for the Dragons, but how long remains to be seen.
Talovierov, meanwhile, appeared only 11 times in the Championship last season and was part of the league’s poorest defence, surrendering 88 goals in 46 games.
Darling, on the other hand, played an important role in Swansea’s excellent 11th-place result. He played 39 games, earning another season in the Championship, and scored five goals from centre defence.
| Stat (league, P/G) | Eoghan O’Connell in 24/25 | Harry Darling in 24/25 |
| Interceptions | 1.2 | 0.6 |
| Tackles | 1.5 | 0.8 |
| Balls recovered | 4.7 | 3.9 |
| Dribbled past | 0.3 | 0.3 |
| Clearances | 7.8 | 5 |
He’s a threat in the air and an excellent ballplayer. At 25 years old as well, Darling is yet to come into his prime years. If Wrexham can get him on a free transfer, he may be a great addition for Parkinson.
