Phillips: McKenna Made Me Believe in Myself Again

After a difficult two seasons following his £42 million move from hometown club Leeds United and a miserable loan experience at West Ham, Phillips, 29, joined the Blues on loan from Manchester City last summer.

At Portman Road, the former England player suffered from injuries, making just 17 starts and five substitute appearances, scoring just once, and missing the entire season because of an achilles problem.

Phillips posted, “A frustrating end to a tough season,” on Instagram. “I just wanted to express my gratitude to Ipswich Town.”

“After a challenging two years, I want to thank the fans for making me and my family feel so loved.”

“Thank you to the players and staff, an incredible team that I enjoyed being a part of every day.

And a special thank you to the manager, who has been a tremendous assistance to me both on and off the field. He is not just a fantastic manager but also a wonderful person. He restored my faith in myself.

“I wish everyone at the club the best of luck, and I have no doubt that Ipswich will return to their rightful place very soon.”
