Player ratings: How Wanderers fared in the pre-season victory at Barrow

Wanderers continued their unbeaten start to pre-season with a 1-0 victory at Barrow, but how did we rate the players at Holker Street?

Teddy Sharman-Lowe…7

Generally well shielded by the defence in front of him, but produced a number of good saves when needed. It’s good to have another clean sheet under his belt as he settles in at Wanderers.

JORDI OSEI-TUTU (6.5)

He was used as a full-back in a back four once more, and he demonstrated his attacking prowess in the final third.

EOIN TOAL: 7

Had a goal-bound header from a corner blocked early on and contributed to a strong defensive effort as Barrow increased the pressure before the interval.

Sam Inwood…8

Another promising performance from the youngster, who does not appear out of place among the first-team players. At one point, I made a key clearance of Raglan’s header.

MAX CONWAY: 7.5

A fantastic moment for the youngster to get on the scoreboard following a wonderful piece of brilliance. After a successful season on loan in League Two, he is doing nothing to undermine his chances of sticking with the team.

Aaron Morley…7.

Made a nice block on the line in the first half and was unlucky not to score after forcing Stanway into a smart save.

Josh Sheehan (7.5)

As usual, he was tidy in possession and was unfortunate not to receive an assist following a wonderful pass that sent Mendes Gomes through on goal.

SZABI SCHON, 6.5

He started well but struggled to execute his last pass or shot. Will be blaming himself for not converting Randall’s cross-shot from close range.

Joel Randall (6.5)

He looked lively at moments in the first half and sent a brilliant ball over the top to put Schon through on goal before being hauled out by the goalkeeper.

Carlos Mendes Gomes (6.5)

Will be disappointed he didn’t double the lead after a clever run to meet Sheehan’s pass. Clearly has the potential to be a dangerous player in League One but needs consistency after his bad luck with injuries.

DAESHON LAWRENCE…6.5

Made some good runs off the ball but Wanderers struggled to give him service as the first half went on.

SUBS

CHARLIE WARREN…6.5 – Showed bravery to almost get on the end of Thomason’s cross. Another youngster who doesn’t look out of place after stepping up from non-league.

TRIALIST (NATHAN BROOME)…N/A – Had very little to do after coming on.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…6.5 – Had a half-chance at the back post but couldn’t get a shot away

CHRIS FORINO…6.5 – Solid to help protect the clean sheet.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.5 – Also did his bit in the backline to guard against a late equaliser.

RICHARD TAYLOR…7 – Looked bright in the left-back role, getting forward on the overlap and delivering some good crosses.

GEORGE THOMASON…7 – Made a few good contributions in the final third.

XAVIER SIMONS…7.5 – Promising cameo from the midfielder, who could be an important figure next season.

AMARIO COZIER-DUBERRY…7 – Clearly has talent and could be a dangerous weapon in League One.

THIERRY GALE…6.5 – Good to see him in a Bolton shirt but hard to judge his performance at this early stage.

JOHN MCATEE…6.5 – Almost scored moments after coming off the bench but was denied by a fine stop.
