As financial difficulties continue to cast doubt on the club’s future, departing Sheffield Wednesday wide forward Marvin Johnson became the most recent player to express his annoyance at the wage payment delays.
As of late Tuesday night, The Star is aware that staff members, from senior players to non-football individuals, have not to get their full May salary, and the club’s top management has not provided much information regarding when they might expect to receive their payouts.
There has been no formal announcemet the ongoing financial problems at S6, and according to The Star, the club’s members are irritated by owner Dejphon Chansiri’s lack of transparency. Several non-footballing staff members approached this title last week in an attempt to go public with their plea for clarification on the current state of affairs as well as the future.
After the Owls failed to meet their financial responsibilities on May 30, the club’s human resources department sent a series of apologetic emails to the staff, stating that they were certain the club will be able to make the payments on June 2. Those interviewed by The Star have expressed empathy for coworkers who must now relay scant information.

With little to no information provided to those in the changing room, sources close to Wednesday’s players have privately expressed a rising irritation in recent days that is comparable to that of other staff members waiting for details on the club’s predicament. Last week, teammate Di’Shon Bernard publicly acknowledged the ridiculousness of the scenario, which was followed by Johnson’s snarky social media statement.
The apology sequence is reminiscent of the March wage packet, in which some players were not paid until April 7. Chansiri discussed “cashflow issues” in his private business transactions with The Star during that fiasco, but he couldn’t promise that this would not occur again. Only a few weeks have passed, and despite growing worries about S6’s financial situation, neither those affected nor supporters have received this kind of clarification.
