Plymouth Argyle boss Miron Muslic confirms new appointment at Schalke.

Miron Muslic, the head coach of Plymouth Argyle, has agreed to join Schalke on a two-year deal.
Muslic was brought in following Wayne Rooney’s departure in January, but was unable to keep the team in the Championship. Their relegation to League One was officially confirmed on the season’s final day.
Muslic expressed gratitude to the club, saying, “My first thanks go to Plymouth Argyle, who made it possible for me to hold talks with FC Schalke 04.”
However, in a statement on the Argyle website, Chairman Simon Hallett stated that the club was disappointed ‘in the timing and manner’ of his departure.
He stated that after hiring Miron, the club hired the personnel he requested, including an assistant head coach, head of elite performance, performance analysis, and a set-piece coach.
“After the season ended, and rumours circulated that Miron was attracting interest from other clubs, I called him personally, and he assured me that he was completely committed to Argyle.” As a result, Miron continued to attend all recruitment meetings and was involved in player interviews and recruitment until just last week. His colleagues had no indication that he intended to leave.
“Last Saturday, Miron informed the club that he wanted to speak with Schalke about joining them. According to his contract, any club that wishes to speak with him must first obtain permission from Argyle. We refused to grant such permission, but Miron stated unequivocally that he would never return to Plymouth. Thus, we reluctantly granted the necessary permission.” He added.
“Miron made it clear that he would never return, so we had no choice but to move on. We could have demanded full compensation and gone to court to enforce his contract, but we would not have had his services as head coach, and progress in finding a replacement would have been stalled.
“Rather than get mired in a protracted, and highly disruptive, process we settled for an amount of compensation that, while below the contracted sum, is a strong financial outcome for a League One head coach, enabling us to move on positively.”
He also stated that the club has been “actively engaged” in the process of hiring a new head coach and hopes to have an appointment in place as soon as possible.
Hallett also discussed Argyle’s future, confirming that ongoing negotiations with a potential new investor in the club had broken down after more than a year.
An application for investment approval was submitted to the EFL in February, but he stated that negotiations had taken too long and that “key information that both we and the EFL required to complete the deal has not been forthcoming.”
He continued, “I no longer believe that news of the new investor is imminent.
“As a result, existing shareholders (I, Argyle Green, and the Holliday family) will provide the funds to keep us on track with our plans. This includes making funds available to ensure we have a competitive football budget with the goal of returning to the Championship as soon as possible, as well as continuing to invest in Foulston Park. Our budget for next season will be double that of the last time we were in League One. He said.
Hallett confirmed that the additional funds provided by him and the existing shareholders are equivalent to the level of financial support specified in the investor plan for year one.
He went on to say, “I completely understand that this will be extremely frustrating for fans, just as it is for me and the rest of the Argyle Board.” I have repeatedly stated that my resources can allow us to be a sustainable Championship club, but that if we want to go beyond that, we will need new investment. I can provide some of that new investment with the help of the Holliday family and Argyle Green, but not all.
“The current situation is obviously disappointing, but we value honesty and transparency. It’s been a long, arduous process, but one that we expected to end successfully. It has not, but we are still in a very strong financial position.
