Plymouth Argyle is having trouble pursuing the former manager of Watford FC.

Tom Cleverley, a former Watford manager who is reportedly one of four on a list to take over in Devon, is a challenge for Plymouth Argyle.

Since losing Miron Muslic to Schalke of Germany at the end of May, the Pilgrims have been aggressively searching for a new manager. They have had to rebuild more than their team after being relegated to the third division.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Argyle has compiled a list of four individuals in their search for Muslic’s replacement, and interviews are scheduled for this week.

The Pligrims were undoubtedly devastated by the https://www.sportupdates.co.ukBosnian-Austrian manager’s exit, especially considering the strong backing he had received from the supporters and owner Simon Hallett while he was at Home Park.

Cleverley is supposedly scheduled to speak this week, but he seems to have more ambitious plans.

The Plymouth Argyle trade may be derailed by Tom Cleverley’s Championship aspirations.

Tom Cleverley for Watford

The former Manchester United midfielder is reportedly preferring to stay in the Championship, but Cleverley is set to meet with Plymouth Argyle this week as part of their ongoing recruitment process, according to Nixon’s reports.

Plymouth’s strategy follows Cleverley‘s dismissal by Watford, which ended his first complete season as manager, by little over a month.

After leading the Hornets to five league victories since the start of the season, Cleverley’s stay was cut short, despite the team finishing in a quite acceptable 14th position in the Championship.

Notably, though, Cleverley had become Watford’s longest-serving head coach since Javi Gracia, and his departure represented the club’s tenth managerial change in five years.

Perhaps this explains Cleverley’s alleged desire to remain in the Championship; Nixon adds that he is also a candidate for a few other unidentified positions that are now open.

Tom Cleverley may have to leave Plymouth Argyle as they continue their managerial hunt.

Stephen Robinson

Cleverley, Jack Wilshire, Des Buckingham, and Stephen Robinson, the current manager of St Mirren, are on the club’s shortlist, according to a recent PlymouthLive story.

Their job to replace Muslic is undoubtedly difficult, since Plymouth’s relegation may make it difficult to draw in managers who wish to stay at Championship level.

Whether Argyle can get beyond the obstacle in their pursuit of Cleverley or whether they believe one of the other three on the list is more qualified for the position will surely be determined during the next week, when interviews are apparently scheduled to take place.
