Plymouth Argyle have signed free-agent midfielder Ayman Benarous on a one-year contract.
The 21-year-old Englishman was on trial at Home Park over the summer after being released by Bristol City after a string of injuries in previous seasons.
Benarous came through the Robins’ system and made 12 Championship appearances, but he hasn’t played in more than two years due to a series of debilitating knee problems.
However, he has now regained full fitness and strengthens an Argyle midfield that has recently lost Jordan Houghton and Adam Randell.
“Ayman is a young player with brilliant potential and has impressed us all since he came in to train with the squad,” said head coach Tom Cleverley on the club’s website.
“He was highly regarded at Bristol City but had horrible luck with injuries. He shown his talent to everyone here throughout the last week.
“We are really pleased he has agreed to join us as he had a number of options to choose from but felt Argyle was the best place for the next step in his career.”
