Police are targeting speeding drivers in Edgware in response to residents’ concerns.
This week, police officers from the Centenary, Edgware, and Kenton East wards conducted a road traffic operation in Camrose Avenue, Edgware, in response to concerns raised by local residents about driving offences.
The operation was launched in response to ongoing complaints, with the location chosen due to what police describe as a growing concern about road safety.
Officers were joined by colleagues from neighbouring wards and used specialist equipment to detect and apprehend members of the public who were exceeding the speed limit.
Several cars were stopped during the afternoon, and penalty notices were issued for a variety of violations. Officers at the scene were pleased to see that the majority of drivers followed the law.
PS Jones, SNT lead for Edgware, Centenary, and Kenton East ward, stated, “Today’s operation was just a small example of the range of tactics the police will bring to bear on those who don’t obey the law in our wards”.
In response to local concerns, police may conduct additional similar operations throughout the area, with the goal of discouraging reckless driving and improving road safety.
