A 26-year-old man was charged by police after being found riding an illegal e-bike in Aberdeen.
Police were on patrol in a crackdown on illegal e-bikes.
A man was reportedly found in possession of drugs and a knife after being stopped by police in Aberdeen who were cracking down on illegal e-bike use.
On May 1, plain-clothed officers were patrolling in the city’s north when they came across a man riding an e-bike who was also hiding his identity.
The 26-year-old man was allegedly found with Class A drugs, a knife, and a four-figure sum of cash.
Police, who had been targeting illegal bike use and associated criminal activity, seized the bike as well as an uninsured van used to store illegal e-bikes.
The man was arrested, charged, and was scheduled to appear in Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday.
Sergeant Mark Rennie stated that “using unregistered electric vehicles on public roads or other land without the permission of the landowner is illegal and dangerous.” It may also be associated with other types of criminal activity.”
“Anyone found riding a vehicle illegally will likely have it seized.”
“We will continue to work proactively throughout the city to combat such crime. The public can assist us by reporting any incidents to us through 101.”
