Portsmouth favourite holds talks to become next Norwich City manager.

Portsmouth could face a fan favourite next season, as management negotiations begin at Norwich City. Pompey are set for another season in the Championship, having easily avoided relegation in their first year back in the second division. John Mousinho received numerous accolades for his performance at Fratton Park, and as a result, the hierarchy will be eager to retain him. If the 39-year-old remains in PO4 next season, he might face a Portsmouth favourite in Norwich’s dugout.

As promising as the season was on the south coast, the same cannot be said for the Canaries following a disappointing few months in Norfolk. The Carrow Road team finished 13th in the Championship and parted ways with Johannes Hoff Thorup in April.

The Danish head coach was replaced as interim manager by Jack Wilshere, but the former Arsenal player will not take over permanently this summer. The Telegraph (16 May) reports that former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders is due to interview with Norwich in the near future. The 42-year-old has surfaced as a target, alongside Pompey fan favourite Gary O’Neil, who has previously been quizzed about a potential move to NR1. If a deal for the former Wolves manager goes through, the ex-midfielder will prepare to face Mousinho and his previous club, Portsmouth.
