Portsmouth identify Crystal Palace midfielder as top summer target.
According to the South London Press, Portsmouth is interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Hindalo Mustapha on a summer loan.
Portsmouth, a Championship club, are gearing up for another summer transfer window following their successful season of survival. Pompey faced challenges throughout the 2024/25 season, but eventually emerged victorious.
Another year of second-tier football will allow for more summer spending at Fratton Park, and improvements are needed throughout the squad if they are to progress to the next level.
The loan market has proven beneficial for Portsmouth this season, and they are expected to make temporary additions again this summer.
According to the South London Press, Crystal Palace midfielder Hindolo Mustapha is a key target for Portsmouth.
According to reports, Pompey have identified Mustapha, 18, as a top target for the summer. Head coach John Mousinho has seen the youngster play for the Palace U21s, and the Championship club is very interested in a loan deal.
It remains to be seen what the Eagles’ stance will be as Mustapha turns 19 in July.
Teenage midfielder Mustapha is still in the early stages of his career. He has yet to make his senior debut and has only played youth football for Crystal Palace.
Portsmouth manager Mousinho has made a scouting trip to watch the youngster in action, indicating their strong interest in him.
Mustapha, who impressed for the U18s with five goals and 12 assists in 32 games, has successfully advanced to the U21s this season. He has nine goals and five assists in 23 games, including contributions against Gillingham and Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy.
Mustapha, a two-time Sierra Leone international, primarily plays as an attacking midfielder. He can play a deeper role if necessary, but he has also enjoyed his time on the wings this season.
Pompey require midfield signings.
Portsmouth plans to strengthen their midfield for the upcoming season and may prioritise this area.
Freddie Potts, Isaac Hayden, and Adil Aouchiche will be loaned back to West Ham, Newcastle United, and Sunderland, respectively. Kaine Gordon will also return to Liverpool.
Mustapha, who can play in a variety of positions, could help Pompey fill gaps in their squad, but only time will tell if a move is made.
