‘Portsmouth to sign another Australian’ to send Mousinho into the playoffs

‘Portsmouth to sign another Australian’ to send Mousinho into the playoffs.

John Mousinho has made it no secret that he enjoys signing Australian talent.

Adrian Segecic joined with Portsmouth earlier this week, becoming the club’s fourth Australian player.

There are obviously plenty of bargains to be gained in the A-League, as Portsmouth try to climb the Championship table.

Mousinho’s chase of Australian players should not end with Segecic’s signing.

Portsmouth should go all-out for Australian Noah Botic

Noah Botic is another Australian player who Portsmouth should keep an eye on this summer. The striker had a good season in the A-League, scoring 16 goals in 29 games.

The 23-year-old’s play near the conclusion of the season was particularly spectacular, as he scored four goals in the Finals Series, including a hat-trick against Adelaide United.

Prior to returning to Australia, Botic was regarded as one of the world’s top young talents. In 2019, while still in Hoffenheim’s academy, he was recognised one of the world’s top 60 young talents.

Botic has been fantastic at Western United

Botic is now showing signs of reaching his full potential, with A-League’s 20 (16 June) stating that he has 16 offers on the table from throughout Europe this summer. The striker’s contract with Western United expires at the end of June, and he is expected to move to Europe. Given Portsmouth’s reputation among Australians, Mousinho must go all out to sign the next striker. The 23-year-old is a bargain on a free transfer, and Pompey’s connections to the country may persuade him to join the South Coast Club.

Botic could prove to be an ideal striker this season, and his clinical quality could power Portsmouth into the playoffs.
Mousinho should take use of Portsmouth’s Australian ties. While not every signing Portsmouth makes should come from the A-League, the club should make the most of their link to the league. There are several outstanding players in Australia who might easily make the Championship.

Mousinho must now try to dominate this market, as it might be Pompey’s ticket back to the Premier League. Hopefully, if Portsmouth takes this approach, it will pay off at Fratton Park.
