Ipswich Town: Blues to face Charlton Athletic in pre-season friendly.

Ipswich Town will face Charlton Athletic in a preseason friendly at Colchester United’s JobServe Community Stadium. The match will take place on Tuesday, July 29th, with a 7:30pm kickoff.

The Addicks earned promotion to the Championship after winning last season’s League One play-offs, finishing fourth before defeating Wycombe Wanderers in two legs and then defeating London rivals Leyton Orient at Wembley Stadium.

Charlton, managed by Nathan Jones, begin their second-tier season at home against Watford on Saturday, August 9th (12:30pm), before travelling to Portman Road to face Town on Tuesday, October 21st and Tuesday, April 26th (7:45pm).

The two teams last met in April 2023, when Conor Chaplin scored a hat-trick, Freddie Ladapo added a brace, and Leif Davis scored to help Town triumph 6-0 on Suffolk soil. Kieran McKenna’s side now has four pre-season games scheduled before their Championship debut away to Birmingham City.
