PSV also had an eye on Feyenoord-bound Steijn: ‘We definitely followed him’.

According to Earnest Stewart on the Studio Voetbal show, PSV closely followed the actions of Feyenoord-bound Sem Steijn.

 

Steijn, the top scorer in the Eredivisie, is set to join Feyenoord after this season. However, his goal-scoring prowess was also closely watched in Eindhoven, but the move did not happen due to the club’s existing quality.

“Let’s just say we definitely followed him,” Stewart explained. “But we’re pretty strong in midfield, so that wasn’t an option for us.”

PSV already has three players who can play at number ten, including Ismael Saibari, Malik Tillman, and Guus Til. Steijn, who has impressed at FC Twente this season and is the Eredivisie’s leading scorer, was thus not a clear choice at the Philips Stadion.

Steijn will next play for Feyenoord, as previously announced. The 23-year-old is regarded as a new record signing for the Rotterdam club, and he will soon sign a four-year contract that will keep him at De Kuip until the summer of 2029.
