Queens Park Rangers will most likely look for a new manager this summer, as current head coach Marti Cifuentes is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
The Sun reported last week that Cifuentes was considering resignation from QPR due to a breakdown in his relationship with CEO Christian Nourry, sparking speculation about his future.
On Sunday, Sky Sports reported that Cifuentes’ representatives were in talks with West Bromwich Albion about the vacant managerial position. The Spaniard was placed on gardening leave by the R’s on Tuesday night, effectively ending his tenure at Loftus Road.
On Wednesday morning, journalist John Percy revealed that Cifuentes is not currently on West Brom’s managerial shortlist. The Baggies are still “going through the recruitment process”.
Although Cifuentes will not be taking over at Albion, his departure from QPR this summer appears inevitable. Newcastle United assistant head coach Jason Tindall, who previously managed Bournemouth in the Championship, has been tipped as a potential contender by bookmakers.

Jason Tindall, Mick Beale comparison drawn amid QPR talk
FLW’s QPR fan pundit Louis Moir believes Tindall could be an exciting replacement for Cifuentes. Moir compares Tindall’s potential appointment to that of Mick Beale, who previously worked as an assistant before taking over at Loftus Road in the summer of 2022.
“I was surprised when I saw Jason Tindall’s name pop up fairly high on the bookies’ list, which makes you think that there could be something in it,” Louis told me.
“This is a bit of a rogue shout.
“He obviously has that experience as a manager at Bournemouth, where he did well, with a win ratio of more than 40%.
“He was an assistant to Eddie Howe at Newcastle, and there’s no doubt he worked with some of the club’s best players.
“He may feel that it is time to leave the assistant role and pursue a career in management now.
“I would probably take him; it could be quite exciting.
“It’s similar to when we signed Mick Beale, but Tindall has previously managed Bournemouth and performed admirably.
“They had a few poor results, which is why he was fired, and they did not achieve automatic promotion under him, which may have been their goal with their squad at the time.
“But he’s had a lot of experience working for Newcastle under a top manager like Eddie Howe, and he appears to be a really interesting hire if he is someone we’re looking at.
“If he could take his experience as an assistant manager and apply it to management at our club, where there are exciting players and young players to work with, it could work.
“He’s one to keep an eye on.”
Jason Tindall may be a gamble worth taking for QPR.
Beale, a highly-rated coach, was given a management opportunity at QPR three years ago. Despite a controversial move to Rangers, he delivered results during his brief tenure.
Unlike Beale, Tindall has managerial experience, and it was arguably unfortunate that he was fired by Bournemouth in February 2021, when the club was sixth in the Championship.
Tindall has been an important part of Newcastle’s recent success, and he recently oversaw comprehensive victories over Manchester United and Crystal Palace while Howe was away, demonstrating that he is capable of leading a team on his own, so he could be a good fit for the R’s if he decides to return to management.
