QPR hold talks with ‘hurting’ Championship manager as Hull City could steal Loftus Road frontrunner.

QPR have reportedly ‘held talks’ with former Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup over replacing Marti Cifuentes at Loftus Road.

The R’s have not yet officially parted ways with the Catalan head coach, but have placed him on ‘gardening leave’ ahead of the season’s last Championship match against Sunderland. That occurred amid rumours of conversations with West Brom about the vacancy at The Hawthorns, as well as a rift between chief executive Christian Nourry and Cifuentes. QPR aren’t the only Championship club looking for a new manager this summer. Cardiff City, Norwich City, West Brom, Watford, Hull City, and Southampton, which will be relegated soon, are also searching for an appointment. Several of the same names have been associated with various posts, including at Loftus Road. Former Wolves manager Gary O’Neill is a perennial frontrunner, as are Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason.

According to the Telegraph, QPR has held conversations with former Norwich City manager Thorup. The 36-year-old was fired by the Canaries after six defeats in eight at Carrow Road. That article focusses on Norwich City wishing to interview former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders, but it does indicate at the direction QPR may be heading in. Thorup struggled with ailments throughout his stay at the club and believed he would be given three years to fulfil Norwich City’s Premier League goals before being fired after 11 months.
