QPR is expected to turn down two fresh offers for the midfield sensation.

According to West London Sport, QPR is expected to reject the bids that Rapid Vienna and FC Basel made for Jonathan Varane.

With new management starting a new chapter, QPR is going to have a hectic summer.

It appears that the R’s will appoint Julien Stephan as their new manager following a period of uncertainty during which Martii Cifuentes was on gardening leave. He has a strong record with Stade Rennais and RC Strasbourg in his home country of France.

While all eyes will be on the players he adds to his team, there seems to be summertime interest in Jonathan Varane, a midfield star, given the persistent rumours of bids for the 2024 signing.

Two further offers have now been made for the QPR star, according to a report from West London Sport.

They claim that offers for Varane have also come from Swiss team FC Basel and Austrian team Rapid Vienna.

But like the Espanyol one, the Hoops are expected to reject these moves as well. The 23-year-old has also lately been linked to Saint Etienne, who are reportedly ready to make a solid offer following their relegation to Ligue 2.

The persistence of Varane connections

Even though Varane’s summer window is just getting started, there is already a lot of interest from abroad.

Rapid Vienna and Basel seem to have been the most recent to have an offer rejected following rumours of a Espanyol deal. It appears that Saint Etienne will be the most recent team to express interest in the highly sought-after midfield player.

Naturally, QPR wants to hold onto the midfield star, but if bids start coming in at this rate, it might be a long summer. Although none have been connected as of yet, it is not impossible that interest will develop on these shores as well.

QPR is able to maintain their bids.

Varane was just acquired by QPR from Sporting Gijon last summer, for an estimated £875,000.

Following a successful Championship debut season, he was signed to a new deal by the R’s at the end of the season.

They are in an excellent position to try and ward off bids for his services because their conduct appears to have preempted substantial summer interest.

The Hoops should be in a strong position to fend off bids for Varane unless an offer is made that they can’t turn down.

Although he has the ability to develop further and is already a gifted player, his future value might be much higher when he has another successful season.

Therefore, if QPR can maintain their stance this summer, it will be advantageous.
