Rangers and 49ers are now negotiating the free transfer of a new 23-year-old forward.
Rangers are thought to be in talks to sign a new in-demand forward on a free transfer this summer.
Rangers, a 10-man team, force Athletic Club to a first-leg draw.
The Gers hosted La Liga team Athletic Club in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday night at Ibrox, and they put on another strong Europa League performance.
Robin Propper’s straight red card put Barry Ferguson’s team down to 10 early on, but Rangers fought to a 0-0 draw before the second leg the following week.
It is everything to play for in Bilbao as Rangers want to return there for the final at the end of May. Liam Kelly even stoppedAlex Berenguer’s late penalty.
Ferguson stated in a post-game interview: “I felt we handled their danger and defended pretty effectively. One of the things we’ve tried very hard to
improve on is the issue of giving up goals. Tonight, I witnessed a team that followed the guidelines.
“They took the material with them after our conversation on Monday really got to them. Anyone who watched tonight’s game, in my opinion, witnessed a team that would dash through brick walls to support one another.
Away from the pitch at Ibrox, however, 49ers Enterprises has reached an agreement in principle and is now completing a takeover.
However, they already have their sights set on summer additions, and the Gers are particularly interested in one man.
Rangers in talks to sign “impressive” forward for free
Rangers have “continued” negotiations to recruit Kwame Poku, a winger for Peterborough United, according to Graeme Bailey.
Bailey provided an update on Poku’s future in an interview with EFL Analysis, noting that his Posh contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the current campaign. Up to five English teams are reportedly in talks for the 23-year-old, so Rangers are not the only team interested.
Birmingham is indeed one of the clubs with which his representatives are in negotiations. However, there are others, like Norwich, Millwall, Luton, and Crystal Palace.
But the Rangers pose a serious threat because they want him and have seen him a lot. Their takeover and subsequent new manager have hampered the ongoing talks.

All but three of the 23 goals the League One star has contributed this season have come from the right-hand side, making him a notable player in the third division.
Poku has been on my radar for a few seasons now, along with Ephron Mason-Clarke, who is now doing really, really well at Coventry, according to Don Goodman, a pundit and co-commentator on Sky Sports, who termed him “very impressive” last month.
However, ” whether he’s ready for the Premier League just yet is a debate to be had, but certainly if I was a Championship club and I needed an exciting, ball-carrying winger that both scores and creates goals, he would be on my radar.”
