Rangers game deemed crucial; Everton would have to wait until August for a signing.

If Everton wants to sign Georgios Vagiannidis, a full-back for Panathinaikos, for the Champions League encounter against Russell Martin’s Rangers, they will have to wait until August.

Sporting Club de Portugal is reportedly attempting to acquire the Greek defender this summer, according to Record.

According to the newspaper, Panathinaikos, who fully own the player’s rights, has already turned down Sporting’s €10 million + €2 million offer. Sporting’s director of football, Bernardo Palmeiro, traveled to London last week to finalize the transaction, but his presence alone was insufficient.

Although they only plan to do so in August following their Champions League qualifying round matchup with Rangers, the Greek team is eager to bargain for the right-back.

Other clubs have expressed interest as well, most notably Everton and Wolves in England and Atalanta in Italy.

Therefore, it is not necessary to make a sell right now. Instead, they would like to retain their player for that Champions League match, and then possibly have Everton and the others compete in August. They might even hold an auction to get a better deal.
