Rangers ‘probably can’t afford’ to pay off forgotten £3m star – so he may have a future after all, says Kris Boyd.
Will his new manager give him a chance?

It promises to be a summer of change at Ibrox, with new owners, managers, and players.
But could some stars stay at the club despite looking like they were on their way out?

The Rangers’ current roster requires an overhaul, as several players have left due to contract expirations.
Cyriel Dessers has been linked with a move abroad, and there may be serious interest in Nicolas Raskin as the summer progresses.
However, some fringe players may be difficult to replace due to their lucrative contracts.
Kris Boyd, a former Rangers star and SunSport columnist, believes this.
Rabbi Matondo serves as an example.
The Welsh winger spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Hannover.
He has struggled to make a consistent impact in Scotland since his £3 million arrival from Schakle in 2022.
Despite a promising start at Hannover, the player’s season ended prematurely.
Boyd believes he will be difficult to remove from Gers’ payroll.
He told Top Rated Bingo Sites: “You never know because he is under contract. It is easy to say their time is up and they have to move on, but when you are under contract, the club may not be able to pay it off.”
Kris Boyd says Rangers players were shocked that the ‘ghost goal’ against Hibs was not given.
“I’m not just talking about Rabbi Matondo; there are others in the same boat.
“There will be a new manager, and you never know how they will play.
“In previous seasons, we have seen Rabbi Matondo pose a threat and cause problems for teams.
“He has struggled to do it consistently, which could be one of the reasons the Rangers have been inconsistent, as many of their players have been inconsistent.
“Some of them found levels for a few weeks before disappearing in others.
“Rabbi Matondo has been out on loan, and it hasn’t worked for him.”
Boyd expressed disappointment that Rangers were unable to recoup their investment by loaning out the player.

“We’ve seen it before when players go out on loan and think, ‘That’s it, it’s done, and we’re moving on,’ but with everything changing at Ibrox in the summer, he could return and produce the goods.
“If he is going to do that then he will have to do a lot more than what he has produced in recent seasons.”
