Dons new boy in ‘special’ admission

Adil Aouchiche is determined to help Aberdeen win more games this season after joining from Sunderland on a season-long loan move. The 22-year-old offensive midfielder signed for Jimmy Thelin’s side over the weekend, with Aberdeen maintaining the option to make the deal permanent next summer for £1.5 million. The French midfielder began his career at Paris Saint-Germain and played 77 games for St.

Etienne in Ligue 1 before moving to England to sign for Sunderland in the summer of 2023, though he struggled for regular game time as the Black Cats won promotion back to the English Premier League last season.

However, with a new beginning at Pittodrie now on the horizon, Aouchiche is motivated to assist the Dons add to their Scottish Cup win from last season. “It’s a special feeling to sign for Aberdeen,” Aouchiche stated. “The best decision for me is to come here. Everyone knows it’s a major club in Europe and Scotland.

I had a very nice and meaningful chat with the boss, and he made me feel welcome here. He wants me to enjoy the loan period and provide my skills and expertise to the team. I will aim to bring everything to my teammates and the club. I want to do something here and possibly build some pleasant memories.

Killie double deal

Kilmarnock have revealed the arrival of two new faces at Rugby Park, as new head coach Stuart Kettlewell looks to bolster his squad ahead of the season’s start next month. Welsh midfielder Tom Lowery was the first in the door yesterday, signing a two-year contract with the club after leaving Portsmouth.
The 27-year-old began his career at Crewe Alexandra before joining Fratton Park in the summer of 2022, where he helped the team win the EFL League One title.
He did, however, spend the majority of last season back at Gresty Road, having rejoined his former club on loan.

Kettlewell also brought in striker Djenairo Daniels, who joined the club from Cork City for an unknown price and signed a two-year contract. “Djenairo is one that we’ve known about for a while,” said Kettlewell.

“His qualities are clearly seen. He’s been playing consistently recently, and we’re convinced he’ll come in and hit the ground running, adding to the squad’s already high quality.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is stepping up his search for striking reinforcements after it was revealed that the club had ‘enquired’ about Napoli striker Giuseppe Ambrosino, according to Sky Sports Italy’s Luca Bedoni.

The Italian spent last season on loan at Serie B club Frosinone, scoring five goals in 36 games, but is now looking for a similar move to the Scottish champions, who have already made ‘first contact’ about a deal for the player.

The youngster is reported to be receptive to the move, with the loan deal featuring a buy option, although both Cagliari and Cremonese are prepared to compete with Celtic for the signing of Ambrosino, who has previously been compared to Belgian forward Dries Marten.

Celtic are also tracking Le Harve centre-back Etienne Youte this summer, according to L’Equipe.

However, Anderlecht and Besiktas are also interested in signing the 23-year-old. Meanwhile, long-term goal Mathias Kvistgaarden is expected to seal a £6.9 million move to Norwich City this summer, with the Danish teenager scheduled to have his second physical at Carrow Road today.

The 21-year-old Brondby forward will sign a four-year contract with Norwich.

Rangers ‘pushing’ for deal

Rangers manager Russell Martin is ‘keen’ to sign veteran striker Jamie Vardy this summer, according to a fresh report.

The free agency forward has been linked with a move to Ibrox throughout the summer window, but Martin refused to comment on the 38-year-old following Sunday’s pre-season tie with Club Brugge, stating: “I’ve been asked about so many players.”

Some are far astray, while others are spot on. I’m not going to answer it. You’ll find out who is genuine and who isn’t, as well as the permanent signings of Joe Rothwell, Emmanuel Fernandez, and Thelo Aasgaard.

However, Martin will be hopeful of adding further to his squad in the coming weeks, telling fans to ‘expect the squad to look different in a week’.
