Rangers ‘take firm interest in £5m-rated international winger as European club told to expect offer from Ibrox’.

He’s an alternative signing for a player who is already high on Russell Martin’s wishlist. In his first summer as Rangers manager, Russell Martin has already signed seven new players. However, it does not appear that the incomings will slow down at Ibrox.
According to a new report, Rangers are in talks to sign Finnish international Oliver Antman. We reported earlier this weekend that Martinis is considering Crystal Palace winger Jeserun Rak-Sakyi for the right wing.
Djeidi Gassama, a wide man from France, has already made his debut for Gers, scoring against Panathinaikos. But Stephen McGowan of the Herald says that Antman’s club, Go Ahead Eagles have been told by intermediaries to expect a bid from Glasgow for their star.
The Daily Record also reported that Gers had agreed to a deal with the Dutch side and that Antman could sign within the next 24 to 48 hours. Rangers’ interest is described as ‘firm’ by McGowan, though Go Ahead are expected to demand more than £5 million for the 23-year-old, who scored six goals and 16 assists in his debut season after joining from Nordsjaelland last summer.
The Finnish star also scored a late penalty in his country’s 2-2 draw with Scotland last June. According to the report, Sheffield United are interested in signing Antman to replace Rak-Sakyi, who was on loan at Brammall Lane last season.
Martin attempted to sign Rak-Sakyi when he was manager of Southampton and is still interested in a loan deal for the 22-year-old.
Martin said, “We’ve been linked with a lot of players. “Some are off the mark, some are very close, and some are exactly right. “[Rak-Sakyi] is a player I liked at Southampton; we attempted to sign him but were unsuccessful.
“He is a player I like, and I believe the recruitment staff does as well; I’m not sure how far this has progressed. “He is a very good player. We look at a variety of profiles that we believe can benefit the team. It does not have to be one type of profile.
“Players are very different. We just need the ones with the right mentality who are desperate to come here and we will see where we are in four weeks’ time.”
