Rangers takeover latest: ex Ibrox star outlines one non-negotiable to 49ers amid ongoing managerial hunt
When his former club’s potential new American owners choose a new permanent manager, Ryan Jack, a former Rangers and Scotland midfielder, feels that there must be one thing that cannot be compromised: a thorough awareness of the demands, expectations, and pressures of the supporters.
After signing from Premiership rivals Aberdeen eight years ago, Jack, a childhood Gers supporter who played for seven years at Ibrox and currently plays for Esenler Erokspor in the Turkish second division, immediately realized the size of the football team he had entered.
And he believes it’s a crucial need that the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh must fulfill, given earlier this week’s claims that the incoming manager will not have any prior ties to the Govan giants.
That would probably mean that Jack’s top pick, Steven Gerrard, couldn’t make a comeback. However, the 33-year-old believes that the person must be completely aware of what it will require to accept a unique responsibility as the manager of one of Scotland’s largest clubs.

Before bringing them in, players and a manager must understand the significance of the club to the local population. They must be aware of the requirements and expectations. Before attending Rangers, everyone must understand that. People cannot be caught off guard by it.
“When a group gets together, they must be aware of the demands and all that goes with being a Rangers player. The club would benefit greatly from the investment since it will create new excitement and energy. However, hiring a management and new players will need to be done correctly. For me, that is the most important thing.
Like Gerrard did when he took over, they have a core group there that allows the incoming manager to evaluate and rate players during the preseason. He made a decision about who he would travel with. Rangers’ upcoming season might be quite intriguing if they can get the manager and staff right, especially because it’s a busy summer.
Rangers supporters are looking forward to a busy summer of transition, as interim manager Barry Ferguson still has three league games to finish before the team can wrap up a trophy-less season.
Legendary former club captain Ferguson’s chances of obtaining the role on a full-time basis were ruined by too many patchy performances, and Rangers Review editor Joshua Barrie has provided a fresh update on the team’s continued hunt for Philippe Clement’s replacement.
“The completion of the takeover is not a prerequisite for Rangers to appoint a new manager,” he wrote on X.
Former Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose and Sheffield Wednesday head coach Danny Rohl, who is expected to depart the EFL Championship team this summer, are now at the top of the betting charts to become Rangers’ next manager.
