Rangers urged to make ‘no-brainer’ SPFL striker signing.
Andy Halliday believes Rangers signing Lawrence Shankland this summer is a ‘no-brainer’.
Although the Heart of Midlothian striker has struggled this season, Halliday believes he would be a valuable addition to the Ibrox squad.
Indeed, Shankland will be available for free transfer at the end of the season. He has yet to renew his contract with Tynecastle and will be a free agent in a few months.
“[It’s a] no-brainer,” stated Halliday [Open Goal].
“If it’s a free transfer and you can get him for the right price, obviously, with Rangers trying to reduce their wage bill in recent years.
“You’d definitely have him as part of your squad.”
In 39 appearances for Hearts this season, the Scotland international has only scored five goals.
Shankland, on the other hand, scored 31 and 28 goals in the two campaigns that came before this one.
The proposed takeover by 49ers Enterprises is expected to bring significant changes to Ibrox, leading to speculation that he could join Rangers this summer.
They own Leeds United, who were recently promoted to the English Premier League after a 6-0 win over Stoke City, along with other Championship results from Monday.
While this has no bearing on the Rangers deal, it was a significant boost for the organisation ahead of their upcoming investment north of the border.
