Rav van den Berg played for Middlesbrough amid Feyenoord’s interest
Rob Edwards says he had no reservations about picking Rav van den Berg for Middlesbrough’s friendly at Bradford City, despite Feyenoord’s growing interest in the defender.
On Tuesday, the Dutch side made two offers for Van den Berg, both of which fell below Boro’s asking price and were thus rejected. Boro intend to hold out until their valuation of the 21-year-old is satisfied, albeit it is understood Van den Berg has informed the club that he wishes to depart.

On Tuesday, the Dutch side made two offers for Van den Berg, both of which fell short of Boro’s asking price and were thus rejected. Boro aim to hold out until their valuation of the 21-year-old is fulfilled, albeit it is understood Van den Berg has notified the club of his desire to leave.
For the time being, however, Van den Berg remains a Boro player, and Edwards sees no reason to stop picking him unless something changes.
The head coach stated, “It was an easy decision to play him.” He’s here, his mindset was excellent, and unless I’m told otherwise, he’s here and delighted to be here. We had a great talk yesterday. He expressed his desire to play in this match and for Middlesbrough.
Despite his involvement in Boro’s 2-0 defeat at Bradford, Van den Berg is expected to leave this summer having signing from PEC Zwolle two years earlier. Boro can expect to make a tidy profit on a player they spent roughly £500k though, which should help towards strengthening Edwards’ team further.
