Reading FC ‘have everything in place’ says managerial legend

Reading FC ‘have everything in place’ says managerial legend.

Former Premier League manager Tony Pulis has praised Reading and manager Noel Hunt for how they have handled their off-field issues.

Pulis, best known for his work with Stoke City, last managed Sheffield Wednesday in 2020 after a 28-year managerial career that was highly successful.

He managed to defeat Reading in the first, second, and third tiers of English football, as well as being eliminated from the FA Cup as West Bromwich Albion manager.

Hunt is at the other end of the managerial cycle, having taken over the Royals permanently in December after Ruben Selles left.

Dai Yongge has led the club to a seventh-place finish in League One while dealing with crisis after crisis over the last two years.

This is about to end, with Rob Couhig close to finalising his purchase, ushering in a much-needed new era for the club.

In an interview with OLBG, the 67-year-old praised Hunt and believes the club has ‘everything in place.’

“Reading is another club that has been struggling financially and with owners, among other things. There’s a lot going on, and Noel Hunt has done an excellent job of putting that aside and focussing on the team.

“I watched them in the last few weeks or watched highlights, and they appeared very accomplished. They appear to be a decent team capable of winning games, and he will be disappointed, as will they, because Reading is a large club.

“They have the infrastructure; they were in the Premier League a few years ago, so they have everything in place. “They only need a winning team.”
