Reading FC legend takes first step into management
Ed Jackson-Norris, who was heading to the Royals, has been replaced as manager of Maidenhead United Women by
Dave Kitson, a Reading icon.
Between 2003 and 2008, the former striker had around 150 appearances for the team. He also had notable
performances for Portsmouth, Stoke City, and Cambridge United.
The 45-year-old achieved double figures in three of his five seasons and led the team into the Premier League in
2006.
A Berkshire-based coach who previously led The Dave Kitson Academy, he makes his managerial debut with
Maidenhead United Women, a team that competes in the FA Women’s National League.
He said to the club, “I am very happy to be here.” “I am excited to become acquainted with the players and support
their growth.”
Pedro Bruno was replaced by Kitson, who took Jackson-Norris’ spot. Jackson-Norris now plays full-time for
Reading.
“The project had to be special in order for him to leave Maidenhead, and that’s precisely what Reading is – special,”
he posted on social media. “The scope for growth and desire to move forward at an already huge club with a rich
history is a challenge I can’t wait to sink my teeth into.”
Reading presently plays at Slough Town’s Arbour Park and is governed by the Community Trust. This is true even
though the team played in the Women’s Super League for almost ten years and advanced to the FA Cup semifinals
before Dai Yongge eliminated professional and semi-professional status.
After years of deterioration, new owner Rob Couhig has stated that he hopes to collaborate with the Trust to enhance
the women’s setup.
