Reading FC is expected to finalise their acquisition of a Portsmouth midfielder.

Matt Ritchie, a seasoned Portsmouth midfielder, is nearing completion of a transfer with Reading FC. After voicing reservations over his playing time, the 35-year-old has been looking to leave Championship Portsmouth all summer, and Pompey has been happy to let him go.
It now looks like the Royals will sign him after he was courted by both League One and Championship teams. Mark McAdam, a football journalist for Sky Sports, claims that Ritchie and Reading have reached an agreement that will soon be verified. Reading has already dealt with Portsmouth this summer after paying an unknown sum for winger Paddy Lane earlier this month.
Ritchie has a wealth of Premier League and EFL experience. Before playing a crucial part in Bournemouth’s ascent up the division, he began his career with Portsmouth and later played for Dagenham & Redbridge, Notts County, and Swindon Town. With 15 Championship goals to help the Cherries achieve promotion to the top level, he enjoyed an outstanding season in 2014–15.
Before leaving to join Newcastle United, he scored four goals during his one season in the Premier League with Bournemouth. He helped the Magpies get back into the Premier League by scoring 12 goals in the Championship. He later played more than 215 games for the team across all competitions. Ritchie helped Pompey avoid relegation by scoring five goals in 39 Championship games after rejoining them last summer.
