Reading FC star ’50-50′ for Huddersfield Town involvement.
Reading defender Paudie O’Connor’s involvement in Saturday’s first home game of the season is ’50-50′, according to manager Noel Hunt.
The Irishman was the club’s marquee signing this summer, joining on a four-year contract from Lincoln City, where he captained the team with distinction.
The 28-year-old, who appeared in all pre-season games and only missed seven League One games last season, suffered a calf injury last week and was ruled out of Saturday’s curtain-raiser at former club Lincoln City, which the Imps won 2-0.
Heavy-spending Huddersfield Town travel to Berkshire on Saturday for a lunchtime televised clash at the SCL Stadium, and it is unclear whether O’Connor will be available to make his competitive debut for the Royals. “It’s a calf issue he picked up late in the week,” Hunt told BBC Radio Berkshire at Sincil Bank.

He went on to describe the defenders’ chances of playing against the Terriers as ’50-50.’ Hunt elaborated in the club interview, saying, “Paudie has been a big factor in the back four for the last six weeks, so losing him late in the week was a blow for us.” These things happen in football, and we need to be prepared for the next one.
We are awaiting the scan results before providing an update. Huddersfield defeated Leyton Orient 3-0 in their first match of the season, with new signing Alfie May scoring after a big move from Birmingham City.
Last season, Lee Grant’s side failed to beat the Royals. losing 2-1 at the SCL Stadium in another televised clash last September.
