‘Really pleasing’ – Alex Neil gives his assessment of Millwall’s 6-2 friendly win against Sutton United.

ALEX Neil described Millwall’s performance in their 6-2 friendly win over Sutton United tonight as “really pleasing.” The Lions got off to a quick start, with Macaulay Langstaff scoring a nine-minute hat-trick to put Millwall ahead 3-0 after 23 minutes.
Sutton responded quickly with a goal from Ashley Nadesan, and they threatened Steven Benda’s goal several times in the closing stages of the first half before Aidomo Emakhu restored the Lions’ three-goal lead five minutes into the second half.
Nadesan added another goal in the 60th minute, but Millwall were soon out of reach after Emakhu scored his second, and substitute Josh Coburn rounded the U’s custodian late on to score the Lions’ sixth.
“For the first 35 minutes, we were fantastic; I thought we were very good. Then I thought when they scored, the goal was disappointing. We gave away the ball cheaply.
We don’t provide adequate defence for the next phase. “Then it got a little scrappy. It became a little set-piecey just before halftime. Then we started the second half brightly and scored the next goal. Then it got a little messy. We made some changes.
They made some changes. The goal we conceded was extremely poor. “For five minutes, I thought they looked more dangerous than us, just in terms of pressure, throw-ins, corners, and free kicks.
But, thankfully, we regained control, scored the next goal, and went on to easily win the game.”
