Release date for Celtic flag day and fixtures for next season
With a decisive 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock in August in Glasgow’s east end, Celtic began their league title defence
this season.
Despite a shocking 1-0 loss to bottom-place St Johnstone last weekend, Brendan Rodgers’ team is getting closer to
winning the league for the fourth time in a row.
The title could be won this weekend
The Scottish champions will formally claim their 55th league title if the Hoops defeat Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on
Saturday and the Rangers lose to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.
With a Scottish Cup semi-final matchup against Simo Valakari’s St Johnstone quickly approaching, Celtic is still
aiming for a triple this season.
Focus is beginning to shift towards next season
With the SPFL announcing yesterday that the full schedule for the first 33 games of the 2025–26 Scottish
Premiership will be made public on Friday, June 20, attention is starting to turn to the upcoming season.
When the 2017 Premiership season starts on the weekend of August 2 and 3, clubs will return to competitive play
following the summer vacation.
On May 16 and 17, 2026, the season will come to a close, and Celtic may try to win the league for the fifth time in a
row.
Since Celtic will probably win, Rodgers’ team will play their first game of the 25–26 season at Celtic Park. The league
championship flag will be raised during the game, which will be shown live on Sky Sports.
However, the Hoops might have a busy August because they have to make it through a difficult Champions League
playoff qualifying round in order to earn a spot in Europe’s elite club competition for the fourth consecutive year.
Their primary goal for the time being and the upcoming weeks will be to get back into their flow and finish off what
has been a season that has been mainly impressive as best they can.
