Road closed after thatched roof fire

A road was closed as fire men attempted to extinguish a wildfire at a house with a thatched roof.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched to Hackthorne Road, Durrington, Salisbury, at 17:08 BST on Saturday.

According to the fire department, police discovered a well-developed fire impacting the property’s roof and first level.

There have been no recorded casualties, and the fire service believes the cause was an accident.

On Sunday at 12.45 BST, the number of policemen was reduced to one crew with an aerial ladder platform to continue damping down.

The fire service previously stated, “We are working closely with our colleagues at Wiltshire Police and the ambulance service.”
