Rob Couhig issues exciting Reading FC message after big takeover news
After a protracted, agonizing wait for a change of ownership, Redwood Holdings Limited, founded by Couhig and his business partner Todd Trosclair, formally became the new owners of the Royals this week.
After being dismissed as an owner and director by the EFL, former custodian Dai Yongge was ordered to sell the club. After numerous deadline extensions, the takeover was finally confirmed on May 14th, despite threats of expulsion from the football league if he didn’t find a solution in time.
After the transaction was completed, Couhig, an American lawyer, businessman, and former League One rival Wycombe Wanderers owner, was appointed club chairman and delivered his first address to the Royals supporters.
Couhig commended the Reading supporters for their steadfast support despite so much hardship in an email that the club delivered to season ticket holders. He said that without them, the team might not be what it is today.
In addition, he stated that he is prepared to show his goals for the team, but more significantly, considering the recent events at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, his financial responsibility and transparency.
“As a first step of introducing ourselves to the supporters of Reading Football Club, I want to thank you as a season ticket holder for your unequivocal support of this magnificent institution,” stated the 76-year-old.
“It’s safe to say that this club of yours might have vanished without your emotional and financial support. Despite everything, your unwavering support enabled the club to maintain a group of highly skilled and committed employees on and off the field, as well as to continue and display a high-quality product on the field, both at the first team level and Academy.
“People will remember your loyalty.
