Russell Martin is told the brutal truth on the ‘biggest difference’ between the Celtic and Rangers squads

Celtic is aware that funds are now available to invest in the Ibrox first team now that Rangers have the support of

49ers Enterprises

Nobody actually knows how much. Everyone is aware of Celtic’s financial predicament in Parkhead. Scotland’s

wealthiest club is still the Bhoys.

But in spite of everything, including the ongoing trade flurry between the two teams, former Celtic striker Andy

Walker has told Rangers manager Russell Martin the harsh reality about Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup.

Andy Walker says Celtic have players who can ‘scare the opposition’ and Rangers don’t

The former Celtic striker was asked if he thought Rangers would offer a stiffer challenge to Brendan Rodgers this

season.

Agreeing, Walker still told the Ibrox club that despite the investment so far, their squad is still lacking the quality

that Celtic currently have.

Walker told The Go Radio Football Show, “I think Rangers will be better. I can’t see them doing what they did last

season, losing to St Mirren a couple of times, Motherwell, Hibs, those results were really poor.

“But I’ve always felt last season, the biggest difference between Celtic and Rangers, you look at Celtic, I think they

have players that can scare any opposition.

“I look at Rangers last season, I think Cerny, sometimes Dessers, even then you didn’t have Rangers supporters

being convinced about them.

“I’m not sure, this season, what players will scare the opposition.”

To further prove his point, Walker then took a look at the Ibrox club’s best players and compared them to Celtic’s

and still came to the same conclusion.

Compared to Rangers, Celtic still has more players who will cause harm to opponents in the Scottish Premiership.

“I mean, I think Gassama has a right good chance of being a special player,” Walker went on. The other night, he

scored a fantastic goal.

“And I believe that when you look at Celtic, they have Kyogo, Maeda, Callum McGregor, and someone in the back

that you can definitely count on when his health permits. Vickers-Carter.

Among them is Tierney, with all that experience. In my opinion, Celtic has to focus on producing players who can

terrify Rangers and the opposition.

Celtic still needs to bolster their first-team roster with more new players. The front line of the Hoops is a top

emphasis, as Brendan Rodgers has made plain.

The Celtic manager still has more than a month left in the transfer market to get the players he desires, albeit it may

not be in time for Sunday’s season opener at Celtic Park against St. Mirren.
