salary claim as Blackburn Rovers wait
Tyrhys Dolan is a free agent after his Blackburn Rovers contract expired.
Turkish outfit Samsunspor have confirmed their interest in Tyrhys Dolan but have admitted they will struggle to finance a deal for the former Blackburn Rovers winger.
The 23-year-old remains a free agent and officially left Ewood Park when his contract expired on June 30. Whilst Rovers have not officially shut the door on Dolan returning, it’s expected that he will move on.
Dolan has been linked with a host of clubs in England and overseas. Norwich City, Middlesbrough, Derby County and most recently Bristol City are the Championship clubs that have been linked by the media.
However, as reported by The Lancashire Telegraph, Dolan will also explore options abroad with his priority playing at the highest level.
Samsunspor have been heavily touted as a possible destination and their president, Yuksel Yildirim, has publicly addressed the speculation.
He said that whilst the club are interested, Dolan’s priority is earning a Premier League move. Equally, he suggested that they would not be able to finance a deal.
“We were interested in Tyrhys Dolan, but he aims to play in the English Premier League,” he told Turkish media.
“He is also a player who is financially above our budget. We do not currently have a budget to cover salaries over 1 million Euros.
We can pay a salary of over 1 million for 1 person, and that would be our marquee transfer. That marquee is not Dolan.”
After taking his time to decide on his next move over the summer, Dolan is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks. He is back in the UK and training with personal coaches whilst Rovers started pre-season training two weeks ago.
Should Dolan move to any club in England, Rovers would be due compensation which would have to be agreed between the two clubs or by a tribunal.
If he moves abroad, either within the UK or outside it, the amount of money Blackburn would be entitled to which decrease significantly.
