Sam Allardyce says Newcastle United star Yoane Wissa did something he really isn’t a fan of

Sam Allardyce claims that Yoane Wissa of Newcastle United did something that he doesn’t particularly like.

With just seconds remaining on the day of the deadline, Newcastle United acquired Yoane Wissa, their last summer transfer window acquisition.

After Newcastle gave in and let Alexander Isak join Liverpool for a record British transfer fee, Eddie Howe was in dire need of another striker to sign. Newcastle had made an initial £25 million approach for Wissa early in the transfer season, but they were turned off by Brentford’s exorbitant asking price. They ultimately gave in to those demands as well, and in their haste to get a striker before the window closed, they paid £55 million for Wissa. As soon as Wissa found out about Newcastle’s interest, he needed to act quickly. Similar to Isak, Wissa resisted playing for Brentford in an effort to push through his departure, which ultimately succeeded.

Sam Allardyce has made it clear that he dislikes that kind of behaviour. Isak’s departure was echoed by Wissa’s departure from Brentford, as the striker posted a lengthy statement on Instagram. Wissa expressed his desire to quit the team, and he said Brentford had reneged on their promise to let him go if a good offer was made. Additionally, Wissa had declined to play for the Bees throughout the preseason and the Premier League’s first games. Allardyce, who was talking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, doesn’t like this strategy.

“Done well, scored goals,” the former Toon manager remarked. Additionally, it was a very successful season, which is why Newcastle ultimately spent the amount of money they did. “His tendency to stay at home was the only thing about him that I didn’t like. Anyone who refuses to come in and train and stays at home bothers me. Wissa’s goal return for Brentford makes him an excellent Isak alternative, especially when paired with Nick Woltemade, even though they ultimately spent far more than they had intended to.

Newcastle finds it frustrating that Wissa has yet to be able to play a game at St. James’ Park despite all the drama and overpaying. When Wissa joined Newcastle on international duty with DR Congo in September, he was hit hard right away after having a nearly perfect injury record at Brentford. Wissa was only expected to miss about a month due to the knee injury, but he has now experienced a relapse and will be out for eight weeks.

“Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee,” Howe stated last week. We most likely now anticipate eight weeks instead of six. No issue or recurrence, just a little bit longer. If no more setbacks occur, Wissa’s return date would be around November 2. Before the November international break, he would return on that date for three games. Wissa would then depart for AFCON in mid-December. For Newcastle to feel like they haven’t spent a lot of money, Wissa will need to perform well as soon as he is healthy again.
