Emergency services were called to Hazlehead Academy on Groats Road after reports that a 12-year-old girl had been injured.

A schoolgirl was taken to the hospital after an incident with a knife at an Aberdeen secondary school.

Emergency services were called to Hazlehead Academy on Groats Road on Thursday morning after reports of a 12-year-old girl being injured.

Her parents picked her up from the school and drove her to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for treatment.

A police investigation is currently underway, with detectives following a promising lead.

Aberdeen City Council has confirmed that the incident is over.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “At 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, we received a report of a 12-year-old girl injured on Groats Road in Aberdeen.

“She is receiving medical care at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

“Investigations are ongoing, but officers are following a promising lead.

“This was a contained incident and there is no risk to the wider school community.”

A council spokesperson stated, “We can confirm that an incident occurred at Hazlehead Academy this morning.

“As a result, a student was injured.” The student’s parents picked him up and drove him to the hospital for treatment. The incident is over. Police were alerted and are conducting investigations. We are unable to comment further at this time.
